Late-night Violence: One dead after shooting in Fredericksburg

Gunfire erupted in Fredericksburg Saturday Morning leaving a 23-year-old man dead. Police say this could be a targeted attack.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Neighbors in Fredericksburg are shaken following an overnight shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, when police responded to reports of gunshots in the 400 block of William Street.

Upon arrival, at around 1:00 a.m., officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds on a nearby street. After securing the perimeter, police identified 23-year-old Tyler Lee, who was injured on Charles Street, and immediately provided first aid until medical personnel arrived.

Lee was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Preliminary reports suggest this may have been a targeted attack. The Fredericksburg Police Department is currently investigating this event in conjunction with Stafford and Spotsylvania authorities.
