GERMANTOWN, Md. — Over 100 people were evacuated from a Germantown home after a deck collapsed during a 65th birthday party, fire officials said.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night in the 19300 block of Liberty Heights Lane, according to Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services.
Piringer said it appears as though the deck came apart from the house. This was probably caused by the number of people on the deck and rotting from water damage.
Officials said one or two people were transported and their injuries are not life-threatening.
