Emmy & Murrow award-winner Jan Jeffcoat is excited to be back home with family in the D.C. area. She co-anchors the 5, 7 and 11 p.m. newscasts on WUSA 9.

Previously Jan was co-host of national news magazine show The List.

She also spent five years anchoring Good Day Chicago and FOX Chicago News at Noon.

While in Chicago, Jan received an Illinois Associated Press Award for Best Newscast and a 2011 Edward R. Murrow and Emmy award for covering the devastation in Haiti after the earthquakes. She was also a Livingston Award Finalist in 2010 for journalists under 35. In 2010, Jeffcoat was named Young Alumni of the Year for her alma mater USC. She was also involved with Chicago's Children's Miracle Network and garnered an Emmy for her reports with the organization.

Jeffcoat came to Chicago from Houston where she was the morning anchor for FOX 26 Morning News.

She stayed in Houston for three years, and received two Emmy Nominations for Best Anchor in 2006 and 2007, Best Feature Story, and also two Texas AP awards for Best Anchor. In 2005 and 2006, Jeffcoat received two Star Award Nominations by the American Women of Radio and Television for Best On-Air Personality in Houston.

While in Houston, Jeffcoat covered two major hurricanes, including uninterrupted coverage of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. She also anchored and reported from Chicago during the 2005 World Series.

In her spare time, you can catch Jeffcoat in the water. She is a water sports enthusiast and swam competitively for 10 years.

In March of 2012, she gave birth to her first baby girl Kana Zen. She and her husband live in Chevy Chase with their daughter. She considers being a mom the best blessing and job in the world as well as her greatest accomplishment.
