MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. — Montgomery County Public Schools is getting ready to vaccinate younger kids against COVID-19. In a letter to parents, the school district announced its plan to open vaccine clinics in partnership with the county's Department of Health and Human Services and Holy Cross Hospital.
Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for kids ages 5 to 11 is expected to be authorized for emergency use in the coming days, and MCPS says in a letter to the community that they plan to offer a number of free vaccination clinics for children at schools and county sites once the vaccine is available.
Clinic dates, times and locations will be released soon, according to the school district. Parents or guardians who have not received the COVID-19 vaccine and would like one, or those who need a booster, will be able to do so at the clinics as well, the school district said.
"We are grateful for our partnership with DHHS and Holy Cross Hospital and are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to our youngest learners and their families," MCPS said in the letter.
