Irmo, SC (WLTX) - For one young girl, a trip to Disney World was becoming just out of reach.
"My feelings over the past few days is to pray for a miracle and I haven't stopped praying for that miracle, even when I see her belly swell with a tumor and her legs fill up with fluid and her breathing become more labored I'm continuing to pray for a miracle," said Ginger Nelson.
Last year, three year-old Madelynn Nelson was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, which is a cancer of the nervous system.
After six rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, Madelynn went into remission.
But, two months ago just before Thanksgiving, the cancer came back.
"It came back really fast and they tried another round of medicine but it didn't respond. So now she is on hospice and we are trying to keep her comfortable."
Todd and Ginger Nelson are her grandparents.
"I guess with every little girl, her dream was to go to Disney World," said Todd.
Madelynn loves Disney princesses so much, the Make a Wish Foundation planned on taking her to Disney World at the end of this month.
But because she is so sick, doctors say she may not live that long.
So that's when a bit of magic happened in Irmo and Disney came to her.
"Her favorite thing is Disney princesses and I have just been praying for us to get to tonight just so she can experience it. She was in and out of it but when she was in it she loved it," said Madelynn's mother Amanda.
Amanda and her husband Rob say she loves the color purple and her favorite animal is an owl.
Knowing that their daughter is fighting for her life at such a young age makes them want to never give up hope.
Amanda says they just want to enjoy every moment they have with her.
"We just want to make how many ever days we have, we just want to make them count and we want to make good memories for our sake as well as give her the best quality of life that we can."
