Garrett Haake joined WUSA9 as a reporter in March 2015. He is an Emmy award-winning reporter and multimedia journalist who is excited to call Washington, D.C. his new home.
Garrett came to Washington by way of KSHB-TV in Kansas City. There he was a reporter and fill-in anchor, covering everything from politics and scandal to crime and weather. In the fall of 2014 he traveled to Kandahar, where he reported and shot an hour-long documentary about the end of United States involvement in the war in Afghanistan.
Before joining KSHB, Garrett was an embedded reporter on the 2012 presidential campaign for NBC News. He covered the Romney campaign for 18 months, and reported from roughly 36 states.
Garrett started his career as a desk assistant at NBC Nightly News in New York. He is a proud graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
