GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Some of the wreckage from a plane crash that killed six people in Gaithersburg on Monday has been towed away from the scene.
A video from WUSA9's Delia Goncalves and Dion Wiggins shows debris on the back of truck leaving the area.
The wreckage will be moved to a hangar in Delaware for further examination.
Wednesday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Pete Piringer reported that the three victims in a house that was hit died of smoke inhalation. He also says the victims on board the plane died from traumatic injuries.
Montgomery County police released the results from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The three victims on board the plane, Michael Rosenberg, David Hartman and Chijioke Ogbuka, died from multiple traumatic injuries.
NTSB investigators are telling us that there were no mechanical problems on board, and no engine problems because they could move one of the fans of the engine with their hands. Being able to do that indicated there was no debris or other problem there.
The NTSB says while there was no evidence that birds were ingested into the plane, there was a large amount of geese on the runway at the time. A nearby pilot reported that he was trying to land at the airport nearby and soon after he called for cannon shots to scare away the birds, he witnessed this horrendous crash.
Sadly, 36-year-old Marie Gemmell and her two sons were inside their home when the plane crashed and a portion of that wing broke into their home, spilling jet fuel and igniting a massive blaze.
We heard from Marie Gemmell's husband for the very first time. He survived along with his 5- year-old daughter because they were not home at the time.
