FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — A Fairfax County man is behind bars for abducting a woman in Burke, Virginia in 1999, according to police.
Monday Fairfax County police arrested Allen Lewis Buracker, 67, at his job in the 2900 block of Belcrest Drive in Hyattsville, Maryland.
On Aug. 18, 1999, the woman was trying to find a business in the Burke Town Plaze on Old Keene Mill Road when she was approached by Buracker, who was there doing maintenance.
Buracker lured the woman to a vacant office where he pulled out a knife and assaulted her, according to police. Buracker tried to restrain her, and she struggled with him, receiving several cuts and bruises in the process.
The woman was able to escape and called police. She was later treated at a local hospital for her injuries, police said.
Detectives released the composite sketch below shortly after the incident.
Investigators had been working on the case for decades and said new evidence led them to Buracker.
“Our Cold Case Squad is a dedicated group of talented detectives that relentlessly pursue justice for the hundreds of victims of unsolved murders and sexual assaults,” said Major Ed O’Carroll, Commander of the Major Crimes Bureau. “Their tireless efforts on these always active and important cases are a testament to their work ethic and the law enforcement profession. They will continue to bring closure to those victims and families affected by these heinous crimes.”
Buracker is charged with being a Fugitive from Justice and is being held at the Hyattsville Department of Corrections.
Once extradited back to Fairfax County, officials said he will face charges for abduction with the intent to defile.
Police believe Buracker has lived and worked in the following areas doing property maintenance:
- Fredericksburg, Virginia
- Harrisonburg, Virginia
- Prince William County, Virginia
- Stafford County, Virginia
- Spotsylvania County, Virginia
- Prince George’s County, Maryland
Investigators believe there may be other victims and are asking anyone with additional information to call them at 703-246-7800.
