PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- April is National Autism Awareness Month and Prince George’s County Public Schools are joining in to help celebrate.
There is hosting a slew of events to help promote awareness and support for autism while also celebrating the unique qualities of every person.

Saturday, April 2nd – 5K Glow Walk/Run for Autism.
Maryland Park and Planning is hosting a nighttime 5K to benefit the “Bling for Blue Scholarship” for autistic youths to go to recreational camps. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. at Watkins Regional Park.
Saturday, April 9th – Parent, Family and Community Workshop
From 9 a.m. to noon at John Carroll Elementary School, PGCPS is hosting the workshop “Helping Students Take Control of Everyday Executive Functions.” To register, click here.
Saturday, April 16th – 5th Annual Autism Conference
PGCPS and other community groups are banding together for this annual conference hosted at Seat Pleasant Elementary School from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This year’s conference theme is “Transitioning to the Next Level” and will have events that encourage acceptance and support for autism.
Saturday, April 16th – “Embrace our World” Family Enrichment Day
The school system is hosting the One World Center for Autism’s Embrace at John Carroll Elementary School for Family Enrichment Day from noon to 4 p.m. To register, call 301-618-8395 or email Camille@worldforautism.org.
Wednesday, April 20th – Chat and Chew Parent Workshop
Families in the PGCPS community are invited to Isaac J. Gourdine Middle School from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for food, networking and conversation.
Saturday, April 30th – Embrace Our World Celebration
The One World Center for Autism and PGCPS are teaming up for the Embrace Our World celebration at Prince George’s Community college from noon to 3 p.m. The event includes face painting, a photo booth and more. For tickets, please call 301-618-8395 or email Camille@worldforautism.org.
