DMV Parent discuss school safety with their children

The school shooting in Parkland, Fla. has forced many parents to have conversations with their children about school safety.

WUSA9 talked to members of both "Mocha Moms" and the "Greater Suburban Maryland Chapter of Jack & Jill" in Prince George's County about what their children are telling them.

Parents like, Aneisha Ceesay, said her child has had some tough questions.

"How is it when you lose someone, Mom?," her child once asked. "I don't want to lose you."

Sadarie Chambliss Holston said her 11-year-old daughter has expressed concerns about some of her surroundings ever since the shooting. She said parents have more to deal with now than they did in the past.

"The thing about it is there is no textbook for it," Chambliss Holston said. "We can't do what our parents did for us because social media is into play."

Courtney Bracey said she speaks to her child candidly and with care.

"You have to be honest about what the realities are," she said.
