Virginia murder suspect arrested at Dulles trying to leave the country

In December of 2022, Jose Abelino Guerrero, 20, was reported missing. His body was found a month later in Maryland.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — An arrest was made at Washington Dulles International Airport Sunday morning in connection to a murder investigation in Prince William County.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say they arrested fleeing murder suspect Christofer Antonio Argueta Ramirez, 19, at Washington Dulles International Airport. Argueta Ramirez is a U.S. citizen.

Prince William County Police confirmed that the charges are in connection to a 2022 murder, that were re-sought after initially being dismissed through the courts.

According to CBP officers noticed that Argueta Ramirez had purchased a one-way ticket on an El Salvador-bound flight that was departing from Dulles airport at approximately 1:30 a.m.

Officers stopped him at the departure gate, verified his identity and took him into custody.

WUSA9 has learned that he was wanted in connection to the death of Jose Guerrero.

Prince William County Police confirmed that a suspect was recently re-arrested in connection with that case.

Initially two people were arrested in connection to Jose Guerrero's death.

Last week, Olvin Daniel Argueta Ramirez, who was arrested alongside another young man in 2022, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

At the time of that initial arrest, the other person arrested was a 17-year-old boy who lives in Woodbridge. Police at the time said they were both facing murder charges.

Court documents revealed the two allegedly told police they "intended to rob" Guerrero during a drug transaction in a parking lot in Lost Canyon Court.

Instead, after some sort of argument, they stabbed him over and over until he was unconscious, then took him somewhere else to make sure he was dead, according to court documents. Then, they drove Guerrero's car to Adelphi, Maryland where police say they dumped his body in a wooded area, before bringing the car back to Bel Air Road in Woodbridge.

In March of 2023, Guerrero's family told WUSA9 that the Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney's Office told them that the younger suspect had been released, due to a lack of evidence

"My heart dropped. They're letting a murderer walk the streets. I'm in fear and others should be in fear too," said Andrea Salgado, Guerrero's mother.

That was on March 24. WUSA9 called the jail that afternoon, and they confirmed that the young man, who has not been publicly identified because he was a minor at the time, was in the process of being released.

Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney Amy Ashworth told WUSA9 at the time that she "can't comment on pending criminal investigations and cases." She also wouldn't confirm whether the younger suspect had been released and would only say the investigation was ongoing.

WUSA9 reached out to Prince William County Commonwealth Attorney Amy Ashworth for comment on the new charges Tuesday afternoon. We have not heard back.
