ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A woman is in custody facing charges for allegedly shooting and killing another woman sitting in her car in an Annapolis parking lot Thursday. Police say the women knew each other.

On Thursday evening, Annapolis Police responded to a parking lot on Forest Drive to investigate a homicide. Once there, officers found Allison Faye McIntyre, 59, dead in a car in the parking lot. It was later discovered that she had been shot.

Detectives identified a Blue Toyota Camry with Maryland tags as the suspect vehicle. A person of interest was developed from this information and an arrest warrant was issued for Monet Thompson, 49, of Annapolis.

Overnight, Thompson was found and arrested. She is currently being held at Jennifer Road Detention Center in connection to the shooting.

The investigation into the shooting is active and ongoing. Police do not believe the shooting to be random.

“We are confident we got the right person,” said Annapolis Police Chief Edward Jackson. “We will continue working with the State’s Attorney to prosecute the case to the fullest extent of the law.”

No motive has been identified nor what happened in the moments leading to the shooting.

"We thank the public for their help which led to the swift arrest of a suspect," Jackson said. "Good leads from the public help APD detectives get results and get offenders off the street. I want to thank the men and women of the Annapolis Police Department and the State’s attorney’s office."
