WASHINGTON — DC Police are investigating after a shooting damaged several cars and sent one woman to the hospital Tuesday night near the Anacostia Metro station.
Police originally reported a woman had been shot at the Metro station, but a police report is offering new details about what went down.
According to the report, officers were flagged down just after 11 p.m. by the injured woman and a witness in the 1300 block of Howard Road in Southeast. They told the officers they saw a person shooting a gun in their direction while they were driving, breaking their window.
Metropolitan Police Department's ShotSpotter technology reported the sound of seven gunshots in the area at that time. The police report lists seven cars that were damaged by by gunfire. Bullets also struck two apartments in the area, but no one was shot.
The injured woman who flagged down the officers was taken to the hospital for treatment and is expected to be OK. It was later determined that the injury was caused by broken glass, but not a bullet.
Investigators recovered 81 pieces of evidence at the scene. So far no arrests have been made in this case.
