Woman found dead in bullet-riddled SUV, DC Police search for three juveniles

Police say the three juveniles were operating a gold SUV while traveling westbound on Eastern Avenue.

WASHINGTON — A gruesome scene Sunday in Northeast D.C. revealed a woman shot to death in an SUV covered in multiple bullet holes, according to D.C. Police. Now, they're searching for three juveniles who may have been the perpetrators.

The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. when the city's gunshot detection system, ShotSpotter, alerted officials of at least 20 shots fired in the 1100 block of Eastern Avenue.

Officers arrived on the scene to find the damaged SUV and the woman inside. She had been hit by several rounds and was subsequently pronounced dead on the scene, police confirmed.

The victim, in this case, has been identified as 24-year-old Raycelle Freeman.

A neighbor who did not want to be identified told WUSA9 that he had some minor arguments with Freeman in the past, but that he's heartbroken that she was shot to death in broad daylight on a Sunday afternoon. He said the gunfire woke him from a nap and terrified him.

Police said the three juvenile suspects were operating a gold SUV while driving westbound on Eastern Avenue.

Police ask that anyone with information take no action but to call and report any details to MPD by calling 202-727-9099 or texting 50411.

A reward of up to $25,000 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for this and every homicide committed in D.C.

In November, D.C. surpassed 200 deaths due to homicide in 2021. Now in total, there have been 205 homicides in the district, a 10% increase from 2020.
