LORTON, Va. — A Virginia man faces murder charges in the death of his girlfriend stemming from a shooting Wednesday night.
Huy Tien Nguyen, 47, is charged with Second-Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
At 11:35 p.m. Wednesday night, officers responded to Mount Vernon Hospital in Parker Lane in Hybla Valley for a gunshot victim. Investigators say Alison "Kate" LaPorta was taken to Fairfax Hospital by her boyfriend, Nguyen, suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Nguyen initially told officers that his girlfriend had been shot in a parking lot. An investigation revealed this was not true and that Nguyen actually shot LaPorta inside a car. He then drove her to the hospital. Detectives found the gun used in the shooting near Nguyen’s Lorton home.
Detectives arrested and charged Nguyen for his involvement. He was then taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.
