VIRGINIA, USA — Naseem Isaiah Roulack will serve an additional three years in state custody for his escape in 2023.
On Nov. 26, Roulack entered a guilty plea during his hearing at the Henrico County Circuit Court. A judge sentenced him to five additional years, with two years suspended.
In August 2023, Roulack escaped from police custody during a hospital visit.
Roulack escaped from the Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital shortly before 6 a.m. wearing a hospital gown and no shoes.
Following an internal investigation, the Virginia Department of Corrections discovered that the officers who were supposed to be supervising Roulack, were asleep when he escaped. He managed to get away because he had flex-cuffs on his wrists and ankles, which are made of nylon. These were placed on Roulack at the request of the doctors so they could conduct an MRI.
In August, both officers tasked with overseeing Roulack resigned.
Following his escape, Roulack was named as a suspect in a carjacking in Montgomery County. According to investigators around midnight on September 1, Roulack approached a woman on Deer Park Road, held her at gunpoint, and demanded her car.
During the carjacking, he reportedly told the victim to get in the car. Once the woman was in the car, Roulack drove several blocks and then told her to get out.
Roulack was serving 13 years for malicious wounding, grand larceny, and hit & run during the time of his escape.
With the new charges added Roulack will now serve a total of 16 years behind bars.
