WASHINGTON — Surveillance cameras captured the moment two stopped suddenly so the people inside could rob a person on the sidewalk in Northwest D.C.

The video was released on YouTube by the Metropolitan Police Department Friday in hopes that someone would recognize the two thieves.

Police say the robbery happened just before 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 in the 700 block of 13th Street, Northwest.

The just over one-minute video starts with a birds-eye view of an SUV stopped at an intersection. One person then jumps out of the car to run towards a person on the sidewalk, with a second person jumping out from the backseat as well.

The view then switches to another camera giving a lower angle as one of the two suspects grabs the victim by their shirt. The second thief joins and the two appear to begin pulling at the victim's pockets.

Police say the two suspects assaulted the victim and robbed them before leaving in the same car they jumped out of that was still waiting at the intersection.

The suspects have yet to be found. Anyone with information may contact detectives at (202) 727-9099 or by texting the department's tip line at 50411.
