WASHINGTON — Three people have been arrested for a robbery that happened in Northwest D.C. Sunday night. Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the area of Van Ness Street Northwest and Connecticut Avenue Northwest.
Three people were taken into custody near the Van Ness Metro station around 11 p.m. Sunday night. According to a police report, a man told responding officers he was approached by two men wearing ski masks. The man said one of the suspects pointed a gun at him and said, "Give me everything now."
The victim told police the suspects took his wallet, money and phone. According to the report, the victim was slapped in the face before both men got into a stolen gray Infiniti Q50 and took off.
Officers later spotted the vehicle and tried to pull it over, but the suspects kept driving. The stolen car was later found abandoned near the Van Ness Metro station.
Police searched the Metro station and found two men involved in the earlier robbery, and a third man, who police saw get into the stolen car earlier. A search of the third man found a handgun in his waistband which was unregistered, and he was not licensed to carry, according to the report.
An MPD watch commander had previously told WUSA9 that the men were arrested for a series of robberies, but information about additional robberies has not been released.
