WASHINGTON — Metropolitan Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a well-known jewelry store just north of Farragut Square.
Around 12:57 p.m. MPD officers responded to a report of an armed robbery at Tiny Jewel Box, a family-owned and operated jewelry store located in the 1100 block of Connecticut Ave. Northwest.
Once on scene, officers found suspects had broken a window. A witness told officers there were three people involved in the robbery. One of the robbers broke the exterior display window with a sledgehammer, while the other two reached through the broken glass and stole nine Rolex watches.
The watches ranged in price from $8,300 to $42,500. Totaling in $214,850 worth of stolen Rolexes.
The witness told officers they saw the robbers flee the scene in a car. Officers believe they used a Red 4-door Honda Accord during the time of the robbery.
So far no injuries have been reported.
Right now there is no description available of possible suspects, according to police.
