WASHINGTON — Two teenagers pleaded guilty Monday to carjacking an Uber driver at gunpoint in a Southeast neighborhood last year.
Robert Littles, now 17, and Jessup Meeks, now 18, were arrested last November in connection with a carjacking in the 3000 block of Massachusetts Avenue SE near Anacostia Park. Both teens were charged as adults in D.C. Superior Court and pleaded guilty Monday to one count each of carjacking and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.
According to prosecutors, the victim was working as an Uber driver on Nov. 19, 2023, when Meeks, who was 17 at the time, jumped in the front seat of his car. At the same time, Littles, then 16, approached the driver’s door and pointed an AR-style rifle with a drum magazine at the victim’s head. Littles then punched the victim in the face and pulled him out of the car.
Both teens were arrested roughly 30 minutes later after the victim’s car was found crashed in the 3000 block of Nelson Place Southeast. Officers spotted Littles and Meeks and detained them after a brief pursuit. Littles was found in possession of the rifle at the time of his arrest.
Under D.C. law, juveniles who are 16 or older can be charged as adults for certain crimes. Because they were charged as adults, Littles and Meeks will face mandatory minimum sentences of seven years in prison on the carjacking count.
Both teens were scheduled to be sentenced by D.C. Superior Court Judge Errol Arthur on Feb. 21.
