WASHINGTON — A teenager will spend nearly 10 years in prison after going on an armed robbery spree in July 2023.
Jahmius Brown, 19, committed multiple robberies over the course of just two hours with co-defendant Ricky Bronson, 18, on July 23, 2023, according to the District’s evidence. Both men are from D.C. Bronson has not yet been sentenced.
Both men pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery and one count of robbery in January as part of a plea deal meant the government would not pursue charges for two more armed robberies they were accused of being a part of.
Brown will serve 115 months in prison, or over nine and a half years. This is made up of 40 months for the robbery and 75 months for the armed robbery, served consecutively. After Brown’s release, he will be on probation for three years.
On July 23, 2023, the two men stopped a person walking to the corner of 2nd and Bryant streets Northwest. Brown cut in front of the person and told them to hand over their belongings. While doing this, Bronson got out of a blue sedan parked on the corner holding a gun. The person gave them their iPhone and told Brown and Bronson the password when they asked. They got back into the blue sedan and drove away.
Later, the two men drove the blue sedan up to another person standing at the back of their car at 1331 D Street Northeast. Brown got out, grabbed the person’s shoulder and said, “Don’t scream,” the person told police. Bronson then got out and pressed the gun to the person’s stomach. The person told them to take whatever they wanted and, like the earlier robbery, took the person’s phone and asked the person to unlock it. Brown also took the person’s keys out of their pocket, before they got back in the car and drove away.
Just six minutes after responding to that robbery, police responded to another armed robbery on the 1000 block of F Street Northeast. The person told police that they saw the blue sedan speeding and stop nearby. The two men got out of the car and one told them, “Give me what you got,” while the other pointed the gun at them. The person gave the two men their cell phone and wallet.
The U.S. attorney and police chief have not provided a description of the robbery that was not armed.
