Teenage girl wounded in Southeast DC shooting

No suspect information has been released.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after a teenager was shot in Southeast D.C. Friday night.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting happened just before 9 p.m. in the 5100 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. 

When officers arrived, they found a teenage girl suffering from a gunshot wound. Very little is known about her condition at this time but police have confirmed that she was conscious and breathing when help arrived. 

No suspect information has been released and there is no word on what may have happened in the moments leading up to the shooting.
