WHITE PLAINS, Md. — A teenager is facing charges after deputies say the teen stabbed another teenager in the back with a pocket knife during a fight after school Thursday.

According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, the stabbing happened in the 11200 block of St. Christopher Drive shortly after 2:30 p.m.

Investigators say three teenagers were walking home from school after being dropped off by a school bus. While walking, another group of teens waited nearby to fight them.

During the fight between the two groups, one of the teens allegedly stabbed another in the back with a pocket knife. The stabbed teen was flown to an area hospital for help and is expected to survive.

Two teenagers are facing charges in connection to the fight turned stabbing. A 14-year-old has been charged with first-degree assault and a 16-year-old faces second-degree assault charges. Both were released to their parents.

Ongoing and additional charges are pending as the investigation continues, the sheriff's office said in a release Friday. Anyone with information is asked to call PFC Ondrish at 301-609-3282 ext. 0636.
