BETHESDA, Md. — A Maryland teenager is facing charges after police say he would rob stores only to return days, or in one case hours later, in order to rob them again.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, the 16-year-old suspect was arrested Saturday and has been connected to four robberies since May 12.

The first robbery was reported to police on Sunday, May 12 at the Tobacco Hub on Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda. Investigators allege that the teen walked into the store just after 2 p.m. and asked to see some vape products. He then reportedly showed the worker a gun and demanded they hand over the vape products.

The teen left, but police say he returned just over an hour later. This time he reportedly demanded money instead, then left after getting the cash.

A day later, police were called to another robbery at the Geste Food & Wines along Edgemoor Lane in Bethesda. Similar to the Tobacco Hub robberies, the suspect walked in and asked about vape products before showing them a gun and demanding money from the register.

Again, police say the teen returned the next day to rob the Geste Food & Wines with a gun, leaving with an undisclosed amount of money for a second time.

Tobacco Hub and Geste Food & Wines are 0.3 miles apart or a six-minute walk, according to Google Maps.

Police were able to connect the Tobacco Hub and Geste Food & Wines robberies using surveillance video from both armed robberies. The teen was arrested and is being charged as an adult. Due to his age, WUSA9 has chosen not to name him.

The teen faces four counts of armed robbery, four counts of firearm used in a violent crime, and other related charges. He is currently being held without bond.
