Teen held without bond after police say he brought gun to school

Montgomery County Police were dispatched to Clarksburg High School after a student reported to security that they saw another student with a gun.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A teen was arrested at school Tuesday for allegedly bringing a gun to school.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, on Tuesday, just after 11:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to Clarksburg High School after a student reported to security that they saw another student with a gun.

When officers arrived, they located 16-year-old, Santair Bah, a student accused of possessing a gun. Bah consented to a search and police say they found an unloaded Ruger handgun.

During his arraignment on Wednesday, prosecutors said Bah threated another student and told him, "don't let me catch you outside." They said the 16-year-old proceeded to show the gun he was carrying.

Outside of court, Bah's mother told WUSA9 that she was also fully cooperative with the police investigation and that officers were unable to find any ammunition in her home.

The public defender argued that the fact that Bah did not have any ammunition in his possession indicated that the student did not mean to cause harm on anyone.

Prosecutors argued that even if Bah did not intend to hurt anyone, he did make students, parents, and staff feel unsafe.

Bah is being charged as an adult by the Firearms Investigations Unit. He faces possession of a firearm, underage possession of a firearm, and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.

Judge Holly Reed III ruled the 16-year-old will be held without bond in a juvenile detention center and not in an adult jail. Reed said Bah was a, "severe danger to the community and threat to all students and staff at Clarksburg High School."

Outside of court, Bah's mother called her son a "good kid" who made a mistake. She told WUSA9 that her son had been jumped by several students prior to his arrest.

Bah is due back in court on June 10.
