GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A teacher at Chevy Chase Arts Academy was arrested Sunday by U.S. Customs and Border Protection at JFK International Airport for alleged sexual abuse of minors, according to Montgomery County Police Department.
Detectives said that Priyant Sundas of Rockville, Maryland, on more than one occasion allegedly made sexual contact with more than one juvenile student during private lessons.
Investigators found out that he had purchased plane tickets and was attempting to flee the country. Sundas was arrested as he attempted to board his flight.
Sundas was employed at Chevy Chase Arts Academy at the time of the alleged incidents and had been working there since October 2020. He was previously a music teacher in Northern Virginia.
MCP Detectives are concerned Sundas may have sexually assaulted other victims. Anyone who believes he/she was victimized by Priyant Sundas is asked to call the Special Victims Investigation Division at 240-773-5400.
