Suspect in fatal Plano stabbing posts photo of bloody scene to Facebook

The suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 43-year-old woman in Plano allegedly posted a photo of the aftermath to Facebook.

The suspect in the fatal stabbing of a 43-year-old woman in Plano allegedly posted a photo of the aftermath to Facebook.

Jennifer Spears was stabbed to death Sunday in her home on the 2300 block of Kathryn Lane, police said.

Police identified Kenneth Alan Amyx, 45, as the suspect. A post on Spears’ Facebook page, captioned with the words “please pray for us,” appeared to show a photo of Amyx covered in blood next to a photo of a woman’s dead body.

Plano Police have the post as evidence, according to spokesman David Tilley.

News 8 is not showing the photos because of their graphic nature.

Officers responded to a call from Spears’ sister Sunday. They forced entry into the apartment and found Spears dead on arrival. Amyx, who may have also lived in the apartment, had “superficial wounds believed to be self-inflicted,” Tilley said.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment, and was released into police custody.

A motive for the murder had not been determined. Amyx was arrested for murder and is being held at the Collin County Detention Center on $200,000 bond.

Records show Amyx had previously been jailed on charges of child sex abuse and indecency with a child.
