STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. — The Stafford County Sheriff's office has charged a "Peeping Tom" who was allegedly spying on women in a locker room at Onelife Fitness on Garrisonville Road in Stafford, Virginia.
The alleged peeper, identified as 41-year-old Brian Anthony Joe of Woodbridge, was charged after falling through a ceiling in the women's locker room at the gym and landing on a woman below. He was then cornered by patrons at the gym until law enforcement arrived.
After falling about 10-feet, Joe was left uninjured. The woman he struck on his fall from the ceiling was checked for injuries by rescue personnel at the scene.
Joe has since been charged with burglary, three counts of peeping or spying into a building and vandalism. He is being held without bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
Unfortunately, it's not the first time a "Peeping Tom has targeted a women's locker room at a local gym. In 2019, a naked man peeped on a girl showering at a recreation center in Sterling, Virginia.
Staff at Claude Moore Recreation and Community Center found the man just after 11 a.m. while he attempted to put on clothes.
After being confronted, the man fled the scene, evading arrest.
Another "Peeping Tom" incident took place in 2019 in College Park, Maryland.
Prince George's County Police arrested 24-year-old Eric Tata, who they said broke into a girl's apartment and hid in her closet wearing a towel.
Police responded to the 4600 block of Knox Road for the call of a burglary. A female victim said she heard a noise in her apartment and when she went to investigate she found Tata in her bedroom closet wearing a towel.
The victim said Tata ran off when she screamed. Police said she was not hurt during the incident.
Police said after canvassing the area, they discovered Tata returned to his apartment in a neighboring building where he was taken into custody.
Tata was charged with fourth-degree burglary, trespassing and peeping tom.
