33-year-old DC man killed in road rage shooting following Southeast DC crash

Police arrested 44-year-old Anthony Williams for the shooting. He has been charged with second degree murder.

WASHINGTON — One man was killed in what police are calling a road rage shooting in Southeast D.C. on Wednesday.

At 2:45 p.m., police were called to the 2700 block of Good Hope Road SE.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, a man was shot during an altercation following a crash. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police later identified the man killed as 33-year-old Brooklyn Michael Lynn from Southeast D.C.

Cpt. John Branch, commander of the 7th District, said a 44-year-old man, identified as Anthony Williams of Gaithersburg, Maryland, was arrested at the scene and charged with second degree murder.

The incident reportedly began when someone leaving a gas station pulled out and collided with a second vehicle on Good Hope Road. This accident led to an altercation, Branch said.

Lynn, who was not involved in the crash, became involved in the altercation. In the course of the fight, police believe Williams pulled out a gun and shot Lynn. There is no word on why or how Lynn became involved following the crash.

"Another senseless act of violence over an accident where someone decides to bring a gun into an argument over an accident," Branch said. "That's what it is, an accident. We have to do better."

Investigators say the situation is fluid and are still working to put together a picture of what happened. No other information was immediately available.
