FALLS CHURCH, Va. — Detectives with Fairfax County's Major Crimes Bureau sex crime squad continue to investigate after a woman was sexually assaulted during an early morning burglary in Falls Church Thursday morning.

Fairfax County police officers responded to the 6000 block of Knollwood Drive for a report of a man inside an apartment around 5:10 a.m.

Investigating officers determined two men entered the apartment which was unlocked, and entered a bedroom where the victim was sleeping. The woman woke up to the man sexually assaulting her, police said. The man punched the woman, and then the two men left the apartment.

Officers, canine units and a helicopter conducted an extensive search of the area, but the two men were not found. Detectives responded and took over the investigation, and conducted a canvass of the neighborhood.

At this time both suspects are described as 18-year-old men, one with long curly hair, and both wearing dark jackets and dark pants.

Detectives are working to get a more comprehensive description of the suspects involved and searching for surveillance footage of the area.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crime or the suspects to please call our Major Crimes Bureau at 703-246-7800, option 3. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Solvers by phone – 1-866-411-TIPS (866-411-8477).
