WASHINGTON — A second man has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of 10-year-old Arianna Davis.
On Wednesday, detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department arrested and charged 19-year-old Dallas McKinney of Southeast, D.C. with First-Degree Murder while Armed. He was taken from the DC Jail, where he was already being held on unrelated charges, to the Homicide Branch where he was charged for her murder.
Previously, on Sept. 18, 2023, police arrested and charged 19-year-old Koran Gregory, of Southeast, D.C., with First-Degree Murder while Armed for his alleged involvement in the shooting that left Arianna dead.
An investigation determined that on May 14, 2023, Arianna was riding in the back seat of a car in the 3700 block of Hayes Street, Northeast D.C., while out celebrating Mother's Day with her family. Just before 9:15 p.m., the car was "trapped in a barrage of gunfire," according to Smith, leading Arianna to be hit by a stray bullet. Her family drove to a nearby DC Fire and EMS station, where first responders then took her to an area hospital.
Arianna died from her injuries just days later on May 17. She was 10 years old.
So far, police have arrested and charged two 19-year-old men in connection to the shooting.
MPD continues to search for other suspects involved in the deadly shooting. Anyone with more information is asked to call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s text tip line by sending a text message to 50411.
