Police issue warning after another puppy stolen in DC

The victim agreed to meet with a buyer in Southeast, and when negotiating price, the buyer pulled out a gun and ran away with the dog.

WASHINGTON — Police are asking for the community's help finding a dog stolen by someone in Southeast, D.C. 

Around 9:30 p.m. Monday, the dog owner arranged to meet a buyer to sell the puppy on Texas Avenue, SE. Once there, the owner and buyer were negotiating a price when the buyer pulled out a gun, took the dog, and ran away.

The stolen dog is described as an American bully with black and white fur. She is 9 weeks old and was not wearing a collar. A photo of the dog can be seen below.

Anyone who has knowledge of this robbery is askd to call police at 202-727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's text tip line at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.

Police encourage residents to use designated Safe Exchange Zones if meeting up with people to complete transactions from online market platforms. These designated areas serve as a safe place for people to exchange goods or money in order to prevent pre-staged robberies. MPD also strongly encourages the public to be especially wary of meeting people who refuse to meet at a Safe Exchange Zone location.
