MANASSAS, Va. — A police investigation is underway after a woman was allegedly assaulted in a wooded area of Manassas late Friday night.
Officers with the Prince William County Police Department responded to the area of Fairmont Avenue and Anvil Drive around 1:20 a.m. after receiving a report of the assault. Police say it happened between 11:30 p.m. on April 19 and 12:30 a.m. on April 20.
Through an investigation, the 35-year-old victim informed authorities that she was walking in the area when she was grabbed by an unknown man. The man then forced her into a nearby wooded area where she was sexually assaulted.
The two eventually parted ways, and the victim informed police. The suspect has been described as being a male with a slim build and short spiked hair. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and hood at the time of the assault.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
