PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Police are asking for the public's help finding a person they say is connected to at least seven robberies and thefts throughout Prince George's County, as well as similar crimes in Anne Arundel and Fairfax Counties.

According to the Prince George's County Police Department, the most recent robbery happened at a convenience store on Crain Highway on April 30.

Investigators say that a Prince George's County Sheriff's deputy went into the store while the robbery was happening. When the deputy tried to arrest the robber, police say the robber ran from the store and tried to get into a car that was waiting nearby.

The deputy reportedly followed the robber and the two struggled at the passenger side of the car. During the struggle, the driver attempted to speed away and dragged the deputy for a short distance in a parking lot.

The deputy was injured, but is expected to make a full recovery and no other injuries were reported.

The driver was arrested and identified as Andrew Franklin of Washington, D.C. He has been charged with robbery, assault, and related charges. He remains in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

The robbery suspect has not been located. Anyone with information on this suspect’s identity or whereabouts is urged to call 301-516-2830.
