Police: Man stabbed in the heart by stranger dies, search for suspect continues

In November, Hyattsville officers said the stabbing may have been an "unprovoked assault," claiming to have no evidence the two men knew each other.

HYATTSVILLE, Md. — Detectives with the Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit have taken over an investigation into why a stranger stabbed a 19-year-old man in the heart before running away.

Around 11:45 a.m. on Nov. 16, Therry Buhdeng was reportedly walking across a bridge into Hyattsville when a man, who was also walking on the bridge, turned around and stabbed Buhdeng once in the chest. Hyattsville Police say Buhdeng ran away about 300 feet after being stabbed in the heart, before collapsing on Baltimore Avenue.

He was taken to an area hospital for help and later died on Dec. 1.
