WASHINGTON — Police are investigating an act of vandalism after two people were seen spray painting a pizza restaurant in Southeast D.C. Tuesday night.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspects spray painted the front window of a restaurant in the 2200 block of Town Center Drive Southeast just after 10:30 p.m.

Police released surveillance video of the two suspects that shows an SUV traveling in the area before cutting to what appears to be the outside of an &pizza restaurant. The two suspects then begin spraying paint on tables and the outside window of the restaurant. One of the suspects was wearing a face covering but the camera zooms into the second suspect who had their face uncovered.
Anyone with information is urged to contact detectives.
The vandalism comes as &pizza faces pushback for a controversial dessert appeared to poke fun at late D.C. Mayor Marion Barry. Facing intense backlash, &pizza CEO announced Wednesday that the dessert would immediately be taken off the menu. Burns further apologized for the hurt and frustration &pizza caused, especially to the Barry family.
"Candidly, we made a mistake," said Burns in a letter to the public. "And for that, we sincerely apologize."
Don't Mute D.C., the activist group who led the backlash against &pizza, said they still plan on holding a protest outside the chain's U Street location at 7 p.m. on Friday.
"It’s a great step in the right direction, but it’s not enough,” Ron Moten of Don’t Mute D.C., said on Wednesday.
Police have not said if the vandalism is connected to the controversial dessert.
