MOUNT RAINIER, Md. — Police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead and two others wounded outside a liquor store in Mount Rainier Monday evening.
According to Linwood W. Alston, Chief of Mount Rainier Police Department, the shooting happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. outside of Chuck's Liquor in the 3400 block of Rhode Island Avenue.
Alston said the three victims were all sitting in a burgundy SUV parked outside the store when the shooting happened.
One man was killed, and another man and woman were wounded. The two wounded victims were taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is said to be a man around 5-foot-7 wearing a black and green jacket. The gunman ran away, still armed with a black handgun.
Alston says the gunman was talking with the three victims before the shooting occurred.
Investigators believe the shooting to be a targeted attack but there is no word regarding motive at this time.
The suspect has not yet been found.
