Police arrest woman accused of intentionally setting building on fire in Southeast DC

DC police were looking for a woman who intentionally set a building on fire in Southeast

WASHINGTON — Police arrested a woman accused of intentionally setting a fire in a building in Southeast Washington D.C.

Laketia Hazelwood, 31, faces arson charges for the June 17 fire at a residential building in the 3900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Surveillance footage showed a woman lighting matches and tossing them into a pile of unknown items to start the fire.

Firefighters quickly put it out and no one was hurt. Originally, police said they were looking for a second person involved in the incident, but did not mention them in a release sent Tuesday.

Police said people sent them tips about the suspect after they posted the video online.
