WASHINGTON — Detectives from D.C. Police announced two arrests have been made in connection with a double shooting in Northeast. But neither of the arrests were of the shooters.

On Monday, at 3 p.m., police arrived at the 1500 block of North Capitol Street for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, police located a woman with gunshot wounds inside a car that had been reported stolen.

She was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. A second woman transported herself to a nearby hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

During a preliminary investigation, officers discovered that both Sydney Johnson, 23, and Makayla Robinson, 19, were inside the stolen vehicle during the time of the shooting.

In a press release, police say two unknown suspects were involved in an argument. As the argument escalated, both suspects drew their guns and began shooting at one another.

One of the suspects involved in the shooting was captured by a nearby surveillance camera. He was last seen wearing all black and traveling in a white SUV with unknown Chesapeake Bay license plates.

Sydney Johnson and Makayla Robinson were arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the shooters. If you see the suspect, don’t take action, call the police at 202-727-9099.
