DC man faces murder charges, accused of fatally shooting PG County man

A man was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in a Capitol Heights apartment Tuesday afternoon.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Prince George's Police Department arrested and charged a man in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred in a Capitol Heights apartment building Tuesday afternoon.

PGPD said in a statement that Kerrick Daniels, 46, of Washington, D.C., faces first- and second-degree murder charges in the fatal shooting of Francis Bwaku, 42, of Capitol Heights.

Police responded to the 6600 block of Ronald Road in Capitol Heights Tuesday around 1 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Officers found Bwaku dead in an apartment building from "multiple gunshot wounds." PGPD tweeted from the scene Tuesday, writing they didn't believe the crime was random.

According to the Wednesday police statement, investigators say Daniels and Bwaku knew one another. The nature of their relationship is not made clear in the statement. During an argument between the two of them, Daniels shot Bwaku, police say.

Police say Daniels is being held without bond at the Department of Corrections.

Anyone with information about this incident should call Prince George's County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.

For the first time in more than a decade, Prince George's County's homicide numbers have reached triple digits. Current data indicates there have been 104 homicides to date in the county.
