Person spotted allegedly attempting to cut Pride flag in Arlington; Arrest made

The Pride flag was attached to a flagpole at the time of the alleged attempted tampering.

ARLINGTON, Va. — An arrest has been made after a person was caught trying to cut down a Pride flag in Arlington Friday morning.

Officers with the Arlington County Police Department responded to South Four Mile Run Drive, off of South George Mason Drive, just after 9:50 a.m. after a report of destruction of property. When they arrived, a witness informed them that a male allegedly was seen tampering with a Pride flag that was attached to a flagpole by trying to cut it free. 

Through an investigation, police were able to identify the suspect in the case. The name of the accused has not been released at this time, along with their age and where they are from.

The witness later reported to the Office of the Magistrate, completed a criminal complaint, and a warrant for the suspect was obtained for unlawful entry-bias motivated. 

The investigation is active and ongoing.
