One man dead after a shooting inside a Prince George's County Chinese Restaurant

People are concerned about the crime in this shopping center and say they often stay in the house because of it.

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — An investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death inside a Chinese restaurant in Prince George's County Thursday evening.

Just after 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at the Oriental Express on Marlboro Pike. Once there, officers found a man dead inside the carryout restaurant. That man has been identified as 27-year-old Victor Rios Rubio of Capitol Heights.

Investigators say he was robbing the restaurant and assaulting employees when he was shot by someone who worked there. The gun used has been turned over to police.  No customers were inside the restaurant at the time.

Residents in the nearby area expressed concern overt the busy shopping center being targeted. They say they are tired of the crime.

“Oh… it’s sad,” man who lives nearby, Stephon Jones said. “I was coming over here to grab food and I found out that cops had it tapped off,” Jones said.

Shortly after the shooting, another man who says, he's the owner’s neighbor stopped by to see if everything was okay.

“I see them just going out you know around 11 in the morning and they come back around 12 in the night time it’s like a family run business,” Arslen Raja said.

Even customers speak highly of the owners of the restaurant.
“I’ve been coming there for years,” Jones said. “Talk to everyone there and they’re really good people.”

They’re expressing concerns about the crime that they continue to see in this area.

“I think a month and a half ago there was a shooting right by the Popeyes which is not good for the community because we live here,” Raja said. “I hope it gets better.”
