Off-duty Maryland State Police trooper arrested after causing crash

Lt. Duane Hill has been an officer with the state police for 19 years and 11 months.

TOWSON, Md. — An off-duty Maryland State Police trooper with nearly 20 years on the job was arrested for a suspected DUI after a crash early Saturday morning.

Lt. Duane Hill was driving his personal car around 1 a.m. on I-83 when he hit another vehicle near Ruxton Road, according to police. State troopers responded and he was arrested for suspected impaired driving.

Hill is currently assigned to the Human Resources Division, and has been an officer with the state police for 19 years and 11 months. He has been placed on administrative leave and is suspended with pay.

Maryland State Police are looking into the incident. An administrative investigation is active and ongoing.
