2 people injured in Navy Yard shooting

Police have not released any information about any people of interest in the shooting case.

WASHINGTON — Two people have been injured after a shooting in Navy Yard early Wednesday, sparking an investigation into what happened.

Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department responded to 1st Street Southwest, off of O Street Southwest, not far from Nationals Park, after receiving a call at 2:20 a.m. about a double shooting. Upon arrival, they found two people injured.

One victim, 37-year-old man was found shot in the shoulder, the other, a 19-year-old man, was shot twice -- once in the leg and once in the chest. Both of them were taken to the hospital for treatment. They were both conscious and breathing. Their current conditions are not known, but police say the injuries were not life-threatening.

Police have not released any information about any people of interest in the shooting case.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Anyone who has knowledge of this shooting should take no action but call police at (202) 727-9099 or text your tip to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
