WASHINGTON — Police are investigating a double homicide at 1105 Queen Street NE.
MPD said there were two victims, one a juvenile, found at the scene. The two found dead were father and son.
Initially, police said they were both unconscious and not breathing before confirming both had died.
Patrol Chief Lamar Greene said officers initially responded to a call for a welfare check at the scene around 5:45 p.m. on July 19.
"Upon arriving on the scene, and entering the location, two subjects that were suffering from gunshot wounds were discovered," Greene said.
The victims were later identified as 17 year-old Ahkii Washington-Scruggs and 57 year-old, Hugh Washington, both of Northeast, D.C.
Police did not have any suspects as of Friday night.
"Right now, we do not have any suspect information," he said. "That's why we're asking the public to report anything that they've seen suspicious in the recent week."
The shooting comes just one day after an 11-year-old was shot and killed in Southeast Washington D.C. Karon Brown died after apparently getting involved in a fight with both adults and kids in the 2700 block of Naylor Road.
A good Samaritan picked him up and tried to help, but a shirtless man with a gun who had been in the scuffle ran to the car, and shot at Karon.
Police were still looking for the suspect in that case at last check.
Greene said the Friday shooting was still in the preliminary stages of investigation, and did not have many details to tell media.
"Those details have not been established as of yet. This is going to be an extensive processing of the scene, so it's going to be awhile before we have all those details," he said.
Anyone with information about the Friday shooting on Queen Street NE is asked to call police at 202-727-9099.
D.C. police is offering a reward of up to $25,000, per victim, to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspect(s).
Editor's note: A version of this story briefly and incorrectly stated Friday night's shooting happened in Southeast D.C. in the headline. It has been corrected to say Northeast D.C.
