WASHINGTON — A mother was arrested this week on murder charges in connection to the 2023 death of a 5-month-old boy, DC Police said Friday.
Back on Feb. 11, 2023, officers responded to the 4000 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest in the Cathedral Heights area for the report of an unconscious infant.
Police officers and fire and EMS crews responded to help. The infant was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he later died on Feb. 18, 2023.
The boy was identified as 5-month-old Kenneth Geo Walton, of Northwest, D.C.
Since then, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia performed an autopsy to figure out what happened. The report found that Kenneth's death was caused by complications from blunt force trauma and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
On Thursday, with an arrest warrant in hand, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 35-year-old Christen Borden of Northwest, D.C. Borden is Kenneth's mother.
Borden was taken to the Homicide Branch where she was charged with First Degree Murder.
