SILVER SPRING, Md. — Montgomery County Police joined forces with the Maryland State Police to conduct a patrol initiative aimed at reducing crime and improving the quality of life in the Silver Spring area.
The joint effort ran from Monday through Wednesday, focusing on key areas along MD-Route 29 and I-495. In the Fairland/Briggs Chaney area along Route-29 police managed to achieve:
- 102 traffic stops
- 71 citations issued
- 99 warnings issued
- 2 warrant arrests
- 3 impaired driving arrests
- 1 handgun arrest
- 1 recovered stolen vehicle
In a statement, Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones said "Our partnership with the Maryland State Police exemplifies our dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. By focusing on high-visibility patrols and strategic enforcement, we aim to deter criminal activity and address quality of life issues that impact our community."
