ROCKVILLE, Md. — Two men are possibly facing 500 years in prison each after a jury found them guilty of shooting at a group of people recording a music video in Montgomery County last year.
According to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office, 20-year-old Callen Baker and 24-year-old Zachary Ciccantelli were found guilty by a jury Wednesday of 18 counts of first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence and reckless endangerment.
The shooting happened on March 1, 2023. Baker and Ciccantelli went to a neighborhood in the 700 block of Monroe Street in Rockville around 3:45 p.m. and began shooting at a group of people recording a music video. Several of the victims fired back and gunshots hit nearby apartment buildings where people were inside.
Officers with Montgomery County Police said they recovered more than 20 shell casings and one ghost gun from the area of the shooting.
Now that Baker and Ciccantelli have been found guilty, they fact a maximum sentence of 500 years in prison each. They will both be sentenced in separate hearings in September.
“This is the kind of senseless violence that terrifies our community," said State’s Attorney John McCarthy. "The hail of gunfire occurred in a densely populated neighborhood in the middle of the day. There should be profound consequences for anyone who engages in this type of conduct, and we will urge the court to fashion an appropriate penalty at the time of sentencing."
