SILVER SPRING, Md. — Two men under the age of 20 are facing charges in connection to a shooting at a Taco Bell Cantina in Silver Spring.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, the shooting happened on June 23. Officers were called to the fast food restaurant on Colesville Road, next door to The Filmore Silver Spring, around 6 p.m. for reports of a shooting.

Detectives say three men were confronted by the suspects, identified by police on Monday as 18-year-old Souleymane Traore and 19-year-old Maximus Jean Jerome.

The confrontation escalated and the men got into a fight. At some point, police say Traore and Jerome left the restaurant but Traore later returned and held the victims at gunpoint.

Moments later, one of the victim's brothers arrived and tried to intervene. At that point, Traore reportedly put the gun to the head of the victim's brother fired.

The bullet barely missed, grazing the victim on the head. He was treated an area area hospital and released.

Police say Traore and Jerome left after the shooting and were later arrested on July 1 following a search of Traore's home. Detectives have not released any information regarding what the original confrontation was about.

Traore has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault, while Jerome faces multiple counts of second-degree assault. The two are being held without bond.
