Maryland ghost gun suspect arrested, with 80 guns and 3D printer

St. Mary's County deputies discovered the guns after they said they were called to Taylor's Lexington Park house Thursday during a domestic assault investigation.

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A St. Mary's County man was arrested Tuesday night, five days after deputies found 80 guns inside his Lexington Park house and cars. Jerod Taylor returned to his house after running away from police.

There was a colorful collection of 80 guns and gun-making tools, including a 3D printer, inside of Taylor's house on the 20000 block of Goddard Road in Lexington Park. These included fully automatic machine guns, semiautomatic rifles, shotguns and handguns, most of which were ghost guns, which are unregistered and made without serial numbers.

Not only were some of these guns illegally made without serial numbers and illegal to own, but Taylor was already not allowed to own any type of gun due to an existing arrest warrant he had for theft.

The 39-year-old is facing more serious charges Tuesday night as he is scheduled to stand before a judge at his bond hearing, including illegal possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of an assault weapon with intent to sell and failure to keep registered possession of a machine gun.

St. Mary's County deputies discovered the guns after they said they were called to Taylor's Lexington Park house Thursday during a domestic assault investigation. Taylor had gotten away before police arrived that night.

But deputies had been keeping an eye out for Taylor since Thursday to see if he would return to his house. Their suspect eventually came back on Thursday night.

"Taylor was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Mary's County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he awaits bond hearing," a St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said.
